Currently : Koh tao can be reached by bus or train to Chumphon and then ferry to Koh Tao. It can also be reached from Koh Samui Airport from where flights
operate from Phuket, Singapore, Hong Kong.
From Chiang Mai you can take a bus direct to Hua Hin from where Lomprayah have a bus and ferry combo serice twice daily to Koh Tao via Chumphon

You can travel from Bangkok to Koh tao by express bus and fast ferry with Lomprayah , it is uder US$ 30 ( under B 1,000
) for the journey. You can also fly to koh Samui and then take the Lomprayah ferry service to Koh Tao. You can also travel by train to Chumphon and then take
the fast ferry to Koh Tao.
